CC -!- FUNCTION: Probable component of the anaphase promoting
CC complex/cyclosome (APC/C), a cell cycle-regulated E3 ubiquitin ligase
CC that controls progression through mitosis and the G1 phase of the cell
CC cycle (PubMed:11861581, PubMed:15238519). The APC/C complex acts by
CC mediating ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of target proteins
CC (PubMed:11861581). Developmental role in early embryogenesis and the
CC metaphase to anaphase transition in oocyte and spermatocyte meiosis and
CC mitosis in germ cells (PubMed:11134076, PubMed:11861581,
CC PubMed:15238519). Required for embryonic anterior-posterior axis
CC formation (PubMed:11832245). Plays a role in regulating the abundance
CC of glr-1 receptors in postmitotic neurons, which may in turn control
CC animal locomotion (PubMed:15556870). Involved in regulating GABA
CC neurotransmitter release at neuromuscular junctions in GABA motor
CC neurons (PubMed:24321454). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11134076,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:11832245, ECO:0000269|PubMed:11861581,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:15238519, ECO:0000269|PubMed:15556870,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:24321454}.
CC -!- PATHWAY: Protein modification; protein ubiquitination. {ECO:0000305}.
CC -!- SUBUNIT: The APC/C complex is probably composed of at least 12
CC subunits: apc-2, apc-10, apc-11, cdc-26, emb-1, emb-27, emb-30, mat-1,
CC mat-2, mat-3, such-1 and gfi-3. {ECO:0000305}.
CC -!- DISRUPTION PHENOTYPE: Developmental defects in the gonad, germline,
CC male tail and hermaphrodite vulva (PubMed:15238519). Increased number
CC of germ cells arrested at the metaphase stage of mitosis during the
CC larval stage L4; by adulthood, there are no nuclei in the distal part
CC of the gonad and as a result, no sperm or oocytes are formed
CC (PubMed:15238519). RNAi-mediated knockdown results in defective
CC metaphase to anaphase transition (Mat phenotype) and embryos that
CC arrest at the one-cell stage that display defects in the formation of
CC the anterior-posterior axis (PubMed:11861581, PubMed:11832245).
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11832245, ECO:0000269|PubMed:11861581,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:15238519}.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the APC8/CDC23 family. {ECO:0000305}.
