CC -!- FUNCTION: Immunity protein component of a toxin-immunity protein
CC module, which functions as a cellular contact-dependent growth
CC inhibition (CDI) system. CDI modules allow bacteria to communicate with
CC and inhibit the growth of closely related neighboring bacteria in a
CC contact-dependent fashion. Protects cells against CdiA from the same
CC strain, its cognate toxin protein (PubMed:16109881, PubMed:23882017).
CC Growth inhibition is reversible upon induction of this protein,
CC occurring about 2.5 hours after induction, and requires an energy
CC source (PubMed:19124575). Does not protect against non-cognate CdiA
CC from E.coli strain 563 / UPEC, D.dadantii strain 3937 or Y.pestis
CC strain CO92 (PubMed:21085179). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:16109881,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:19124575, ECO:0000269|PubMed:21085179,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:23882017}.
CC -!- SUBUNIT: Probably interacts with cognate toxin CdiA.
CC {ECO:0000305|PubMed:23882017}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell inner membrane {ECO:0000255}; Multi-pass
CC membrane protein {ECO:0000255}.
