RL J. Biol. Chem. 283:23026-23032(2008).
CC -!- FUNCTION: Tyrosine-rich conopeptide that specifically targets voltage-
CC gated potassium channel Kv1.6/KCNA6 (IC(50) is 8.8 uM) that is
CC expressed in Xenopus oocytes. In vivo, causes seizures (at 5 nmol) and
CC death (20 nmol) when intracranially injected into mice, and causes
CC paralysis (at 10 pmol) to C.elegans. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:18505731}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Secreted.
CC -!- TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed by the venom duct.
CC -!- MASS SPECTROMETRY: Mass=4040.1; Method=Unknown;
CC Evidence={ECO:0000269|PubMed:18505731};
CC -!- TOXIC DOSE: Dose that causes mild to moderate seizure (ED(50)) is 5
CC nmol when intracranially injected into mice. With 20 nmol injected per
CC mouse, most of the mice developed severe seizures and died.
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:18505731}.
CC -!- MISCELLANEOUS: The mature peptide does not contain cysteine residues.
CC -!- MISCELLANEOUS: Does not inhibit Kv1.2/KCNA2 (IC(50) is >30 uM),
CC Kv1.3/KCNA3 (IC(50) is >50 uM), Kv1.4/KCNA4 (IC(50) is >50 uM),
CC Kv1.5/KCNA5 (IC(50) is >50 uM). Seems also ineffective on Kv1.1/KCNA2,
CC Kv2.1/KCNB1, Kv3.4/KCNC4, and Nav1.2/SCN2A (PubMed:18505731).
CC {ECO:0000305|PubMed:18505731}.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the conotoxin M superfamily. Conopeptide Y
CC family. {ECO:0000305}.
