CC -!- FUNCTION: Neurotoxin that is active on vertebrates (PubMed:33764053).
CC When tested at high doses (10 uM), the toxin affects all zebrafish and
CC mouse DRG neurons in culture, which could be an indication of an effect
CC on a widely expressed receptor or ion channel found in both species
CC (PubMed:33764053). At low doses (1 uM), the effects of the toxin are
CC confined to a specific subpopulation of zebrafish and mouse DRG neurons
CC (PubMed:33764053). In vivo, it induces long-lasting dramatic
CC alterations in the locomotor behavior of zebrafish larvae
CC (PubMed:33764053). It rapidly induces hypoactivity and death of larvae
CC at high doses and it causes hyperactivity at lower doses
CC (PubMed:33764053). In zebrafish adults, intramuscular injection causes
CC the decrease of the movements and visited spaces (PubMed:33764053). In
CC mice, intracranial injection causes lethargy and prolonges sleeping
CC phases and reduced movement (PubMed:33764053).
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:33764053}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Secreted {ECO:0000305|PubMed:33764053}.
CC -!- TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed by the venom duct.
CC {ECO:0000305|PubMed:33764053}.
CC -!- MISCELLANEOUS: The mature peptide does not contain cysteine residue.
CC {ECO:0000305}.
CC -!- SIMILARITY: Belongs to the FARP (FMRFamide related peptide) family.
CC {ECO:0000305}.
