RT "A Conus regularis conotoxin with a novel eight-cysteine framework inhibits
RT CaV2.2 channels and displays an anti-nociceptive activity.";
RL Mar. Drugs 11:1188-1202(2013).
CC -!- FUNCTION: Omega-conotoxins act at presynaptic membranes, they bind and
CC block voltage-gated calcium channels (Cav). This toxin inhibits rat
CC Cav2.2/CACNA1B calcium channels in a dose-dependent manner (EC(50)=2.8
CC uM), whose effect is partially reversed after washing. In vivo, when
CC injected into mice, it shows both an analgesic effect in acute thermal
CC pain at 30 and 45 minutes post-injection and an anti-nociceptive effect
CC in a formalin chronic pain test. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:23567319}.
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Secreted {ECO:0000269|PubMed:23567319}.
CC -!- TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed by the venom duct.
CC {ECO:0000305|PubMed:23567319}.
CC -!- DOMAIN: The cysteine framework is XXVI (C-C-C-C-CC-CC). {ECO:0000305}.
CC -!- PTM: Contains 4 disulfide bonds. {ECO:0000305}.
CC -!- MISCELLANEOUS: The framework of this peptide is described as framework
CC XXIV but this framework name was already attributed to another cysteine
CC pattern (see AC J7JU64). The framework is therefore renamed to the
CC lowest available number, XXVI, and the peptide is consequently renamed
CC RsXXVIA. {ECO:0000305}.
